🧴 6 Substances of Very High Concern to Join REACH Candidate List
Six substances will be added to the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) in January 2025. Among them is Octamethyltrisiloxane, a widely used silicone compound recognised for its applications in cosmetics, industrial lubricants, coatings, and textiles. However, it has been flagged for its persistence and bioaccumulation in the environment, sparking concerns about long-term ecological impacts.

🔫 UK REACH Finalises Lead Ammunition Restrictions
The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in collaboration with the Environment Agency, has issued its final opinion on lead ammunition restrictions under UK REACH.
The phased restrictions target reducing environmental contamination and human health risks from lead. Large-calibre bullets will have a three-year transition to non-lead alternatives, while small-calibre bullets are temporarily excluded. The measures aim to balance conservation needs with the availability of safer alternatives for hunters and sport shooters.
