The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released IUCLID version 8.13.2 on 11 November 2024, focusing on a range of enhancements and fixes designed to improve user experience, data entry functionality, and compatibility across multiple regulatory frameworks.
Major Fixes in IUCLID v8.13.2
The new version addresses critical issues that improve IUCLID’s performance and user interface. Key fixes include restoring document comparison features, resolving text wrapping issues, and correcting CSV phrase identification during uploads. Additionally, the REST API’s data protection handling has been aligned with the actual document definitions, enhancing data integrity for integrated systems.
Enhanced Data Entry and User Interface
IUCLID v8.13.2 has implemented improvements for streamlined data entry. Users now have access to full-screen mode in rich text fields, an upgraded date-picker, and a reordering feature for multi-reference fields. Legal entity selection is now automatically set in dossier headers, simplifying dossier creation and management processes.
Specialised Updates for Regulatory Frameworks
For users working within EU-specific frameworks, the release provides targeted upgrades:
- EU CLP (Poison Centres): Non-GHS hazard statements are now included in the labelling calculator, supporting compliance with recent hazard classifications.
- EU PPP: Enhancements include a new report for analytical methods and improved filtering for mixture components, ensuring precise documentation in the Plant Protection Products (PPP) framework.
- EU BPR: New quality rules have been added to support active substance applications, bolstering the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) system’s validation capabilities.
Technical Upgrades and Compatibility Checks
Technical upgrades include a Java upgrade to version 11 and an overhaul of IUCLID’s authentication system. These changes provide a stronger foundation for security but may affect compatibility with third-party tools. Users of IUCLID-integrated systems are advised to check compatibility before updating to the latest version.
New Reporting Features and Document Filters
The service release introduces two new reports: a data waivers list for dataset transparency and an analytical methods table for PPP documents. The improvements also extend to the SPC reports, enhancing the layout and resolving display issues, such as text overlaps and incorrect hazard classifications.
IUCLID v8.13.2’s latest upgrades affirm ECHA’s commitment to simplifying regulatory compliance for users, while addressing technical challenges across multiple frameworks. The IUCLID team will hold a webinar on 14 November to delve into these enhancements and answer user queries.
